Throwback...

So... POPPYN isn't the first time youth leaders from the UCCP took on "The News Media" as a topic. There have been many projects dealing with representations of youth (especially in the urban communities) by the mainstream media. One of our faves is a project from the Summer 2008 called "Bugging Out News." 16 students ages 14-18 worked for six weeks to learn about media literacy and representation and created a satirical newscast to communicate the issues they were learning about.
