POPPYN Ep #9: Hip Hop n' Music



In this episode POPPYN explores local programs in the city that empower youth through music and analyzes issues in music. 


Organizations featured in this episode:

Jr. Music Executive (JME) is an organization that teaches young people about the music industry.
Girls Rock Philly (GRP) is a music and mentoring organization for girls and women in Philadelphia.
Hip Hop Heritage is an after-school and summer program  that teaches high school students the art of the djay, graffiti, breakdance, voice and video production. This program is run by the nonprofit Southeast Asian Mutual Assistance Associations Coalition (SEAMAAC).

POPPYN Ep #8: How Philly Gets Phit!

POPPYN #7: Philly Youth Producers



POPPYN spotlights young creative entrepreneurs around Philadelphia and gives tips on how to be a better consumer of local culture! Includes a sneak peek into POPPYN's own production process.

This summer POPPYN visited Prodigies - a local youth run screen printing business - to find out what they're all about. Check out their cool designs and learn how to screenprint!

POPPYN visits The Peace Spot to spotlight dancers and party promoters from New Money Entertainment, with a positive message.

Voices in Power



In Episode #7, we set out to find out what young people are producing in Philadelphia. We did a spotlight on the young poets and entrepreneurs behind "Voices in Power" and found out how they use their voices to inspire.

WHYY Youth Media Awards







In October 2011, POPPYN was downtown as WHYY checking out the incredible youth produced films submitted to the first ever WHYY Youth Media Awards. The videos were on point and the judges recognized the talent of these middle and high school students!
